Hello! I'm a member of Oberlin college's O!Circus, and I'm considering the possibility of busking in DC this summer (I live in MD). I do poi, staff and fire, and will perhaps have picked up some contact juggling by summertime. I have no experience performing on my own, and I have no idea about DC's busking regulations. How much does it suck to get 'registered' or whatever? How much trouble do you get in for performing without being registered? If I use fire, where do I find a safety and how much should I pay them? Etc. etc. Thank you!!

Re: Breaking into busking
Fri, February 15, 2008 - 10:05 AMWhen I lived in DC, couple years ago now, the one place I knew that busking was ok was at the Dupont Circle metro station, street level at the entrance. Not sure about fire regulations though you may want to look into that so you don't get busted ;)
Good luck and let us know how it works out for you!!!! -

Tue, February 19, 2008 - 6:03 AMI'll be in Baltimore for the summer, busking around there, and I'd be interested in trying out fire in DC with a partner if you're interested. Drop me a line!
BTW, half the fire folks I know up here in Boston are Oberlin alums. You know Basil and Liz? -
